BREAKING: Another 2024 O-lineman commits to Michigan State

The Spartans add a second offensive lineman and third verbal pledge of the day in their 2024 recruiting class...

Verbal commitments keep pouring in for Michigan State football on the eve of National Signing Day.

New offensive line coach Jim Michalczik is getting in on the latest action for the Spartans, as he just reeled in a pledge from three-star Boise (Idaho) Bishop Kelly interior offensive lineman Rakeem Johnson.

Johnson continues the recent trend of former Oregon State commits who are following this coaching staff to East Lansing. The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder originally committed to the Beavers on July 26, but reopened his recruitment after then-OSU head coach Jonathan Smith and Michalczik were hired by Michigan State.

According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Johnson is considered the No, 1254 overall prospect, No. 101 interior offensive lineman and No. 2 player from the state of Idaho. He chose the Spartans over offers from BYU, California, Washington State, Boise State and Boston College, among others.

Over the past seven days, Michigan State has now landed eight verbal pledges in this current recruiting cycle. Smith and his staff have done an excellent job rebuilding what they can of the Spartans' 2024 class ahead of tomorrow's National Signing Day. In addition to Johnson, MSU has received pledges from three-star offensive tackle Payton Stewart, three-star running backs Mahki Frazier and Brandon Tullis, three-star tight end Wyatt Hook, three-star athlete Andrew Brinson IV and three-star quarterback Alessio Milivojevic, among others.

Prior to this string of pledges, the Spartans' 2024 class had shrunk to just seven commitments and the class ranked in the 100s nationally. MSU's class is now up to 15 commitments ranks No. 55 in the country according to 247Sports' team rankings.
