Notre Dame Signee Bodie Kahoun Is Set To Make An Early Impact

With National Signing Day now in the rearview mirror, 2024 Roanoke (Va.) Patrick Henry star linebacker Bodie Kahoun is ready to officially become a part of the Notre Dame family. Kahoun is coming off of a stellar 2023 season, finishing with 203 total tackles, 27 tackles for loss, nine sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

With that big season, Kahoun was named as a semifinalist for the Dick Butkus Award, given to the most outstanding linebacker in college football. The 6-3, 215-pound defender went from lacrosse commit, to toolsy developmental linebacker to an absolute star in one season.

Now it’s on to the next step: getting ready to get to Notre Dame.

"Being able to finally sign is beyond words,” Kahoun told Irish Breakdown. "It’s been a dream and goal of mine to compete at the next level for a long time. To have the opportunity to do it on a national stage as a part of the Irish football program is amazing.”

Since Kahoun committed back in May, he has become a pillar of the Irish 2024 class. It’s a group that has grown close, sharing similar goals. That day will be another step toward what should be a tremendous recruiting class in the end.

"Obviously there is a lot of talent and more importantly great guys that are bought into the vision,” he explained. "We haven’t even been all together yet and I can see the bonding happening. 2024 will be a special class.”

Kahoun will not be arriving in South Bend until the summer. He has, however, already set several goals for what he wants to accomplish. He wants his impact felt very early on.

"My immediate goal is to be the best version of me as soon as I arrive in South Bend,” said Kahoun. "I realize that it’s a process at this next level but I am also very confident in my skill set and how it has developed. The game really slowed down for me this year leading our defense. My plan is to make an immediate impact.”

"After beginning his high school career as a safety, Kahoun has spent the last year and a half as a linebacker for Patrick Henry. He possesses outstanding size and athleticism on the second level, making a ton of plays working in pursuit. As a senior, Kahoun took a massive jump in his first year as a full-time linebacker. He has the tendency to be around the football and make big plays. The sky is the limit for how good he can be."
