Notre Dame Checks In At No. 16 In AP Poll

Notre Dame moved up one spot in this week’s Associated Press College Football Poll. The Fighting Irish (9-3) bumped up from No. 17 to No. 16 after Saturday night’s 56-23 win over Stanford.

Georgia remains No. 1 with 1,540 overall points and 52 first-place votes this week. Michigan moved back to No. 2 after spending a week at No. 3. The Wolverines garnered 1,495 points and grabbed the other 10 first-place votes this week after Saturday’s win over Ohio State.

Washington moved up to No. 3 with Florida State up one to No. 4 this week. The top four teams are all 12-0 heading into next weekend’s conference championship weekend.

Oregon also moved up a spot to No. 5 this week, with Ohio State falling from No. 2 to No. 6 after its loss to Michigan. Texas and Alabama remain No. 7 and 8, respectively. Missouri is up a spot to No. 9 and Penn State moves up a spot to round out the top 10.

Louisville plummeted six spots to No. 15 after its loss to Kentucky. Oregon State also dropped six spots to No. 21 after its loss to Oregon.

Tennessee beat rival Vanderbilt but still fell out of the poll this week. Kansas State also fell out after losing to Iowa State.

No. 6 Ohio State, No. 15 Louisville and No. 21 NC State are the three ranked opponents this week from Notre Dame’s schedule this season.
