Notre Dame Climbs To No. 12 In AP College Football Poll
Notre Dame moved up in this week’s Associated Press College Football Poll. The Fighting Irish (7-2) climbed two spots to No. 12 after Saturday’s 58-7 win over Pittsburgh.
The top five spots in this week’s poll remain the same. Georgia remains No. 1 after its 43-20 win over Florida. Michigan stays No. 2 coming out of its bye week. Ohio State is No. 3 after beating Wisconsin 24-10. Florida State is No. 4 after its convincing 41-16 win over Wake Forest and Washington remains No. 5 after fending off Stanford 42-33.
Oregon bumped up two spots to No. 6, followed by Texas, Alabama and Penn State.
Oklahoma fell from No. 6 to 10 after suffering its first loss of the season on Saturday. The Sooners fell 38-33 to unranked Kansas, who snapped an 18-game losing streak to OU before the Sooners move to the SEC next season.
Two former Irish opponents, Duke and Louisville, met as ranked teams on Saturday, with Louisville winning 23-0. It moved the Cardinals up from No. 18 to No. 15 this week, while the Blue Devils fell out of the top 25 after being ranked No. 20 last week.
Besides No. 3 Ohio State, Southern Cal is the only other ranked Notre Dame opponent in this week’s poll. The Trojans overcame a 14-point deficit to beat Cal 50-49 and hold at No. 24 this week.
