Notre Dame Holds At No. 11 In USA Today Coaches Poll

Notre Dame (3-0) stayed put at No. 11 in this week’s USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25. The Fighting Irish beat NC State 45-24 on Saturday to remain unbeaten in three games this season.

The top two teams in this week’s poll remain the same. No. 1 Georgia received 64 of 65 first-place votes while No. 2 Michigan received a first-place vote as well.

Florida State moves up two spots to No. 3 this week while Ohio State remains No. 4. Florida State actually leaped Ohio State, but the Buckeyes remained the same because of Alabama's loss to Texas. The Crimson Tide are this week's biggest faller in this week’s poll, falling from No. 3 to No. 10 after Saturday night’s 34-24 loss to the Longhorns. The win propelled Texas up four spots to No. 6 this week. Southern Cal is No. 5 after a 56-10 blowout win over Stanford.

Ohio State at No. 4 and USC at No. 5 are the two highest ranked Notre Dame opponents this week. The other two ranked future Irish opponents are No. 20 Duke and No. 22 Clemson. The Blue Devils beat Lafayette 42-7. The Tigers hammered Charleston Southern 66-17.

Wisconsin, Texas A&M and Tulane all fell out of the Top 25 this week after losing to Washington State, Miami and Ole Miss, respectively. Miami debuts at No. 23 after its win over Texas A&M. Iowa and UCLA each enter the rankings this week as well at No. 24 and 25, respectively.
