Notre Dame kicks off the 2023 season in six days, and we'll quickly find out what the Fighting Irish are made of this season. We'll find out if Notre Dame is the College Football Playoff caliber team Irish faithful hope they are, or if the Irish will once again fall short of expectations, or that aforementioned hope.

Notre Dame finished 8-4 in the 2022 regular season, which was the first under head coach Marcus Freeman. According to the ESPN Analytics model, Notre Dame is favored to win all but two of its games this season, which would be a 10-2 record. That's a two-game improvement in Freeman's second season.

Here's the game-by-game predictor from ESPN:

vs. Navy - Notre Dame has 95.3% chance to win
Tennessee State - Notre Dame has 99.0% chance to win
at NC State - Notre Dame has a 68.2% chance to win
Central Michigan - Notre Dame has a 96.3% chance to win
Ohio State - Notre Dame has a 23.9% chance to win
at Duke - Notre Dame has a 79.0% chance to win
at Louisville - Notre Dame has a 75.6% chance to win
USC - Notre Dame has a 57.7% chance to win
Pittsburgh - Notre Dame has an 82.3% chance to win
at Clemson - Notre Dame has a 38.6% chance to win
Wake Forest - Notre Dame has an 86.2% chance to win
at Stanford - Notre Dame has an 85.7% chance to win

The ESPN Analytics predictor model has Ohio State favored to win every game, including its matchup at Michigan. Its 76.1% chance to beat Notre Dame is its second lowest of the season. The Buckeyes have a 68.8% chance to beat Michigan. Both of those games are road contests for the Buckeyes.

Clemson is also favored to win all of its games, and its 61.4% chance to beat Notre Dame is its lowest percentage of the season.

Notre Dame is the only game that USC is projected to lose this season. The Trojans are favorites against Washington (77.1%), Utah (68.4%) and Oregon (54.0%).
