Rave Reviews For Notre Dame Quarterback Sam Hartman At 2023 NFL Scouting Combine

Expectations are at an all time high at quarterback for Notre Dame with the addition of former Wake Forest star signal caller Sam Hartman. Add in other talented quarterbacks like Tyler Buchner, Kenny Minchey and Steve Angeli on the roster, the future of the position looks very bright.

During Hartman’s career with the Demon Deacons, he proceeded to rewrite the record books. His 110 career touchdown passes was an ACC all time record. Add in 12,967 career passing yards and 17 more scored on the ground and you have one of the more productive passers in recent memory.

On paper, it is a tremendous addition. Hartman’s resume speaks for itself. At the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, two of Hartman’s top pass catchers at Wake Forest spoke highly of the talented signal caller and his potential fortunes with the Irish.

It started with star wide receiver AT Perry, who was Hartman’s top wide receiver over the last two seasons. During that span, Perry hauled in 152 receptions for 2,389 yards and 26 touchdowns.

He spoke about Hartman’s impact on him.

“Just getting that connection with him, working with him throughout the summer and throughout the season was incredible,” Perry said. “Just learning from him, how he takes care of himself on and off the field, it’s amazing just to see what he does on the field. It’s great.”

A less heralded member of the Demon Deacon offense, tight end Blake Whiteheart was also extremely optimistic for Hartman’s fortunes next season. Whiteheart has had a great draft process so far, showing out at the East West Shrine Bowl and parlaying that success into a Combine invite.

He was also available on Friday for the media. He has set expectations high for the new Irish signal caller.

“I believe he will do well,” Whiteheart said. “I expect him to keep doing exactly what he did at Wake.

“It was great just seeing what he did throughout his Wake Forest career,” Whiteheart continued. “Him now being somewhere else, I expect him to be consistent and continue to make a huge impact.”

Those are some words of encouragement that should get Notre Dame fans fired up. Only time will tell just how impactful Hartman will be for the Irish. For now, there is some encouraging words from players who know him extremely well - and will be playing on Sundays in the very near future.
