With spring practice fully underway, Notre Dame has constant top recruits from both the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes traveling to South Bend periodically. On Wednesday, Culpeper (Va.) Eastern View linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh will be making his first trip to campus.

Clatterbaugh was offered back during the Pot of Gold offer event on St. Patrick’s Day. Just a sophomore, his recruiting process is just really starting to get busy. These upcoming visits will be a paramount portion of that process.

“The recruiting process is going great and all the schools who have offered are really standing out to me the same as of right now,” Clatterbaugh said. “These visits will start giving me a whole lot better idea for how I could fit.”

“I am truly excited to see and experience everything and be able to go see Notre Dame,” he continued. “My initial thoughts about Notre Dame are that they are a powerhouse and have been for years. I’m really excited to make the trip.”

It’s a long way off from Clatterbaugh making a college decision. He has, however, already developed a clear criteria for selecting a school. These visits will go a long way to begin narrowing things down.

“For me it has to be the best fit,” Clatterbaugh said. “Where I see myself getting a good degree and playing football. Also where my family can come and watch as much as possible.”

Clatterbaugh’s offer list is continuing to expand seemingly by the day. Some of the notable programs who have extended offers so far include the Irish, Penn State, South Carolina, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Rutgers among others.

He is currently considered as a four-star and the No. 170 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class according to Rivals. Clatterbaugh is also an outstanding wrestler in the 215 pound weight class, sitting as one of the best in the state of Virginia.

The 6-2, 220-pound defender is coming off an exceptional season for the Eastern View Cyclones as a sophomore. He led the team in tackles, collecting 87 total, eight tackles for loss and two sacks in eight games played.

Clatterbaugh was also a substantial performer on the offensive side of the football. He had his biggest impact as a pass receiver, leading the team with 243 receiving yards and three touchdowns on just 11 receptions (22.1 yards per catch). The Virginia native also scored another three touchdowns as a short yardage running back.

This trip is a bit of a Midwest swing for Clatterbaugh. He also has plans to check out Ohio State on Thursday as well.
