Blue-Gold Game Recruiting Preview: Where Things Stand With 2024 Incoming Visitors

In this story:
The Blue-Gold Game is set for this Saturday, presenting an exciting conclusion to the spring. We'll see the Notre Dame team compete on the field, but it's also a huge recruiting weekend for the Fighting Irish program.
Most of Notre Dame's commits will be on campus this weekend, and there is also a very deep list of talented players from the 2023 and 2024 classes on campus. Notre Dame will look to make a strong impression with the talented prospects headed to South Bend this weekend.
Let's take a look at some of the key visitors and where recruiting stands heading into the weekend. We'll begin with 2023 players and go position-by-position.
COMMITS ON CAMPUS
It's always important to get committed players on campus, and the Irish staff is bringing most of them in town to help recruit other players.
As of now, eight of the nine total commits in the 2024 recruiting class are expected to make the trip to South Bend. The exception is offensive lineman Peter Jones, who made the trip last weekend.
Here is the full list of commits expected on campus.
QB CJ Carr - Saline (Mich.) HS
RB Aneyas Williams - Hannibal (Mo.) HS
WR Cam Williams - Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South
TE Jack Larsen - Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic
OL Anthonie Knapp - Roswell (Ga.) HS
DL Owen Wafle - Princeton (N.J.) Hun School
CB Leonard Moore - Round Rock (Texas) HS
CB Karson Hobbs - Cincinnati (Oh.) Archbishop Moeller
TOP 2024 TARGETS
In an annual ritual, Notre Dame is expecting a large group of talented recruits to make the trip to South Bend. For the 2024 recruiting class, this weekend represents a great opportunity for the Irish staff to really move the needle with several key targets.
Here is what is at stake for a few of the key visitors this weekend.
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, Linebacker
6-2, 225 - Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco
There is no question that Viliamu-Asa is the top linebacker target on the board for Notre Dame in the 2024 class. His combination of instincts, power and athleticism make him one of the best backers in the country. Notre Dame hosted Viliamu-Asa a year ago for the Blue-Gold Game, and getting him back on campus again now is huge. Notre Dame needs Viliamu-Asa in this class, and a home run visit this weekend will go a long way towards making that happen.
Isiah Canion, Wide Receiver
6-3, 190 - Warner Robins (Ga.) High School
It is no secret that the Notre Dame staff is extremely high on Canion, who plays everything from quarterback, wide receiver, cornerback, kick and punt returner and punter for Warner Robins. This versatile athlete is a height-weight-speed freak that Chansi Stuckey would love to work with. Notre Dame has already separated itself coming into this visit, and will look to escalate this one near the end and close.
Styles Prescod, Offensive Tackle
6-6, 270 - Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern
With two commitments from offensive lineman Peter Jones and Anthonie Knapp in the 2024 class, Notre Dame really needs to attract a true offensive tackle or two to end the cycle. One player the staff seems high on is Prescod, who has an appealing combination of size, length and athleticism. This one has been trending well for the Irish for awhile and could be nearing decision time.
Bryce Young, Defensive End
6-5, 240 - Charlotte (N.C.) Christian
Notre Dame has seemed to be in a great position with Young for some time now. Of course, he is the son of former Irish All American defensive lineman Bryant Young. That background means a lot to Young, who has become a bit of a hot commodity on the recruiting trail. This visit should help to finally hopefully close things out. If Notre Dame can't close this weekend it could get a bit dicey as Young looks to take officials in June.
TJ Lindsey, Defensive Line
6-4, 290 - Bryant (Ark.) High School
The relationship between Lindsey and Notre Dame has been well documented for some time. There is legitimate interest in both sides, but Lindsey’s timeline has always been an interesting talking point. At some points, he was talking about taking it up near signing day, but recently it appears he has moved that decision up. Adding his combination of size, power and playmaking potential would be extremely interesting. Programs like Texas A&M are surging, and the Irish will hope to give him a lot to think about this weekend.
Mylachi Williams, Defensive End
6-5, 210 - Drexel Hill (Pa.) Monsignor Bonner
The staff has been on the lookout for long and athletic Vypers this 2024 recruiting cycle. Not many fit the bill as well as Williams, who has about as much upside as any pass rusher in the country. This will be his first look at Notre Dame and will be interesting to follow. Coming into the visit, his interest seems pretty marginal. We will see if experiencing it all first hand moves the needle.
Bodie Kahoun, Linebacker
6-2, 220 - Roanoke (Va.) Patrick Henry
For the second time in three weeks, Kahoun is making the trip back to South Bend, which is obviously a good sign for the Fighting Irish. Things appear to be on very good terms right now. If Notre Dame is able to knock this visit out of the park, they should be extremely difficult to beat in the end. I wouldn’t expect this one to last much longer if that does happen, and with Notre Dame's need at linebacker in the class it would be a very positive conclusion.
Davis Andrews, Safety
6-2, 190 - American Fork (Utah) High School
The Irish staff has also taken a liking to Andrews, who they have been building a strong relationship with over the last couple of months. While Notre Dame doesn’t spend much time recruiting Utah, Andrews is a very worthwhile exception. Things are in a good place but this visit could help to push Notre Dame to the very top and capture a lot of momentum. With no safeties currently publicly committed, Notre Dame really needs to nail the visits from top targets, and Andrews is a top target.
Justin Denson, Safety
6-2, 185 - Providence (R.I.) La Salle Academy
Denson was offered pretty recently, extending that offer on April 1st. A ton of teams have followed suit, showing heavy interest in the Rhode Island defender. This visit will be a big chance to see just how high the interest is on both sides. Being able to get Denson on campus so quickly will be interesting to follow.
TOP 2025 TARGETS
Notre Dame is also expected to host a flurry of talented 2025 recruits to campus this weekend. That includes Irish legacy Jerome Bettis Jr., who will be joined by his dad along with a collection of alumni heading back to campus.
For the majority of 2025 recruits, this will be their first trip to South Bend. Being able to take in the Blue-Gold Game should be an experience to remember.
Here is the full list of 2025 recruits expected to be on campus.
WR Jerome Bettis Jr. - Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy
WR Taz Williams Jr. - Red Oak (Texas) HS
DE Gus Ritchey - Pittsboro (N.C.) Northwood
DE Daniel Adefolarin - Philadelphia (Pa.) Neumann Goretti
DL Davion Dixon - Miami (Fla.) Belen Jesuit
LB Anthony Sacca - Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joes Prep
LB Kelvion Riggins - Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff
