Notre Dame Has Caught The Attention Of 2025 Edge Jayden Woods

Dynamic 2025 pass rusher Jayden Woods updates recruitment and relationship with Notre Dame

Littered amongst a deep and talented group of defensive ends in the 2025 recruiting class, Shawnee (Kan.) Mill Valley pass rusher Jayden Woods is one of the more dynamic talents at the position. Woods was originally offered by the Irish program during the Pot of Gold offer event.

Since then, the staff has been in consistent contact, at least as much as they can be. They are working hard to get Woods on campus sometime in the near future.

"I’m planning to get some visits set up for the last week of July," Woods told Irish Breakdown. "Notre Dame is one school that I definitely am trying to get up to see.

"I feel like the relationship has been developing well with Al Washington and the staff but communication is limited since I’m a 2025,” Woods continued. "Come September, I’m excited to really get to know the Notre Dame staff a lot more.”

When that contact does ramp up, Notre Dame will be doing their best to make a continued strong early impression on the Kansas native. There is definitely interest from Woods, which is a good start.

"Notre Dame just seems like a great school and a place I’m definitely considering,” Woods stated. "They have great football, great academics and a really good reputation.”

There is already a long list of competition for Woods, which shouldn’t be a surprise judging by his film. While they aren’t one of the early front runners, Notre Dame hopes to change that over the next few months.

“The schools that have really been standing out are Oklahoma, Baylor, Kansas State, Mississippi State and Alabama so far,” he said. “Each school has been showing a lot of love.”

Notre Dame needs to do a better job in attracting talented defensive lineman who can make a major impact. Woods fits that billing perfectly.

Woods is rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports, On3 and ESPN. He ranks highest on the 247Sports ranking, sitting as the No. 121 overall player and No. 13 edge in the 2025 recruiting class. On3 has Woods ranked similarly, currently pegged as the No. 149 overall player and No. 15 edge in the cycle.

The 6-3, 220-pound defender has a long list of impressive suitors. Some of Woods’ top offers thus far include the Fighting Irish, Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Minnesota, Iowa, Baylor, Kansas State, Illinois, Purdue, Iowa State and Kansas among others.

The Kansas native was a big time performer for the state champion Mill Valley Jaguars. Woods finished the season with 51 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and six sacks. He added in an additional six sacks, three forced fumbles and three pass breakups.
