Star Pass Rusher CJ May Excited To Experience A Notre Dame Gameday

In this story:
Notre Dame is set to host a long list of talented 2025 recruits this weekend for their battle with the Ohio State Buckeyes. One of the more talented defensive players, Highland Home (Ala.) High School defensive end CJ May, will be making his return visit to campus after initially making the trip in June.
May went into his first visit with interest in the Irish but that first experience of South Bend was special. Since that trip, Notre Dame has maintained momentum. The coaching staff has kept consistent contact and made him feel wanted.
"Things have been great with Coach (Al) Washington,” May told Irish Breakdown. "We have a great relationship. Coach (Marcus) Freeman, Coach (Nick) Sebastian and Chad Bowden are also always keeping in touch with me.
"I’m just excited to talk to my guys in person, and get that real feel,” he continued. "I’m also excited to see what game day in South Bend is all about.”
The 6-4, 225-pound pass rusher has already garnered interest from some premier programs in college football. May currently holds offers from the Irish, Georgia, Clemson, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas, South Carolina, Duke, Louisville, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt among others.
That momentum in recruiting has continued this season for May. There are a lot of notable schools continuously checking in on the talented pass rusher.
"Recruiting has been going good lately,” he said. "I’ve picked up offers from Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Duke and West Virginia since the season has started. Vanderbilt has made the biggest push among those schools. They are recruiting my whole family hard.”
As of now, there is no rush for May to make a decision. Notre Dame has positioned themselves to be in a good position whenever he is ready to pop. It will be interesting to see if his timeline speeds up a bit, especially with a big visit this weekend.
"I don’t intend to commit until next July, but you never know what may happen,” said May.
May is considered a four-star recruit both on the 247Sports and On3 Industry rankings. The former has him the highest, currently pegging the Alabama native as the No. 171 overall player and No. 18 edge defender in the 2025 recruiting class.
As a sophomore, May put together a quality season for Highland Home. He registered 50 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
Through four games as a junior, May has collected 16 total tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks. He has also broken up three passes so far.
