Notre Dame Wide Receiver Logan Saldate Caps Off Historic Senior Season With State Championship

For the first time in Salinas (Calif.) Palma Chieftain history, they played for a state championship on Saturday. And for the first time in the school’s history, they came out on top, defeating Mission Oak decisively 42-19 at Pasadena City College to claim the Division 4-A CIF Title.

In fact, it was not only Palma’s first state championship, it was also the first time a school from their county had won it either.

Palma is, of course, led by 2024 Notre Dame wide receiver commit Logan Saldate, who was masterful in his last high school football game. His biggest play of the day came early on in the football game, catching a long ball and scoring from 54 yards out.

On the day, Saldate hauled in four receptions for right around 100 yards and a touchdown. That helped to cap off a stellar senior year. On the season, the 5-11, 185-pound pass catcher hauled in 65 receptions for 1,269 yards and 16 touchdowns. While Saldate is the underrated member of an excellent three man class including five-star Cam Williams and playmaking extraordinaire Micah Gilbert, Saldate actually led the trip in receiving yards and touchdowns this season.

Now that Saldate has helped Palma make history with their first state championship, he can now turn the page to National Signing Day. He won’t be enrolling until the summer but has already turned his sights on the next chapter: making big plays in the blue and gold.
