Elite 5-Star DL Eddrick Houston Commits To Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes will have two former five-star defensive linemen in J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer rushing the ends next season, and they just got their first five-star defensive lineman pairing since the duo in the 2021 recruiting class.
The No. 19 player and No. 4 defensive lineman in the class of 2024, Eddrick Houston, announced he was committing to Ohio State Tuesday after he took an official visit June 16. Houston — who joined 2024 wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham and defensive lineman Justin Scott as the only five-star Buckeyes commits so far in the cycle — chose them over Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and USC among others.
The Georgia native led Buford High School's defensive line, tallying 64 tackles, 11 for loss, 10 sacks and 15 quarterback hits en route to being named to MaxPrep's Junior All-American Second Team. Houston also played tight end for the Wolves, in addition to running track and field and wrestling.
Houston was offered by the Buckeyes Jan. 20, 2022, and is the eighth defensive commitment in their class.
The No. 6 player in the Peach State is the eighth-best defensive lineman prospect in program history, trailing Tuimoloau, Sawyer, Noah Spence, Nick Bosa, Chase Young, Zach Harrison and Justin Scott.
Bosa and Young were both drafted with the No. 2 pick in the 2019 and 2020 NFL drafts, respectively, while Tuimoloau and Sawyer are projected first-round picks in the 2024 draft.
