Ohio State Basketball Targeting Towson, Louisville Transfers

Towson guard Nicolas Timberlake and Louisville forward Kamari Lands are two of the most recent Ohio State Buckeyes targets in the transfer portal.

With the potential departures from the program, Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Chris Holtmann might look to the transfer portal for a pair of replacements.

Guard Sean McNeil is out of eligibility and his replacement might come in the form of Towson graduate transfer Nicolas Timberlake, who was a scorer for the Tigers at a team-high 17.7 points per game which was third in the Colonial Athletic Association.

At 6-4, Timberlake is a pure shooter, knocking down 45.5 percent of his shots, 41.6 percent of his 3s and 84.6 percent of his free throws which ranked fifth, second and first, respectively, in the Colonial en route to being named a First Team All-CAA selection.

Stockrisers reported that Timberlake will have a Zoom meeting with Holtmann Tuesday night.

Among the massive list of teams also in the mix are Wake Forest, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Penn State, Nebraska, Providence, San Diego State, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Memphis, Butler and Maryland, among others.

Another option the Buckeyes are looking to add is Louisville forward Kamari Lands, according to Stockrisers.

The former four-star recruit played in all 32 of the Cardinals' games as a freshman this season, averaging 5.9 points and 1.9 rebounds in 21 minutes per game and knocking down 87.5 percent of his free throws.

He notched a career-high 15 points on three separate occasions this season, one against Western Kentucky Dec. 14, 2022, then against Florida State Feb. 4 and finally against Georgia Tech Feb. 25.

At 6-8, 220 pounds, Lands played mostly the power forward position in the final five games for Louisville, according to KenPom.com, but can also play the three if needed.

Lands is a highly sought-after transfer thanks in large part to growth and a late surge in the back half of his freshman season in which he had four games with 10 or more points after Feb. 1.

In addition to Ohio State, Lands has garnered interest from Dayton, Arkansas, St. John's, Oregon State, LSU, Portland, Arizona State, DePaul, Alabama and Penn State.
