OU Baseball: Oklahoma Takes Down Baylor to Even Series in Waco

All tied up.
After losing the series opener on Thursday, Oklahoma continued their three-game series with Baylor on Friday night at Baylor Ballpark in Waco, TX.
Unlike in the first meeting, the Sooners (17-15, 3-5) capitalized on a strong start on the mound to knock off the Bears (11-20, 3-8) 6-3 to even the set.
Getting the ball for OU was left-hander James Hitt, who turned in a quality outing on the hill when Oklahoma really needed it.
The transfer hurler worked into the sixth inning allowing just one earned run and two hits, giving his team a chance to win despite a sluggish start offensively.
A scoreless game into the fifth, the Sooners broke onto the scoreboard first with John Spikerman drawing a bases loaded walk.
That would prove to be a common theme, as OU scored two more runs in the sixth on a couple more walks with the bases juiced from Bryce Madron and Jackson Nicklaus.
After Baylor got one run back in the bottom half, the Sooners struck for three runs in the seventh to extend their lead.
Two of the three came on a single from Anthony Mackenzie with the third coming on yet another bases loaded base on balls from Nicklaus.

At the seventh inning stretch, Oklahoma led 6-1.
The Bears would scratch across another run in the bottom halves of the seventh and ninth innings, but the combination of Kale Davis and Aaron Weber out of the OU bullpen would record the final ten outs to finish the game and seal the victory.
The win snaps a four-game conference losing streak for the Sooners and sets up a rubber match on Saturday.
Going for the series win, OU will turn to right-hander Will Carsten in Game 3 set for 2 p.m. back at Baylor Ballpark in Waco.
