Oklahoma Wide Receiver Parker Livingstone ‘Focused’ on Fall Camp, not Texas Game

NORMAN — Texas coach Steve Sarkisian made headlines at SEC Media Days in July when asked about Parker Livingstone.

Livingstone, a wide receiver, transferred to Oklahoma in January after spending the first two years of his college career at Texas.

Sarkisian didn’t mince words when Livingstone’s name was brought up in Tampa.

“I hope we kick his ass,” Sarkisian said. “It’s the Red River Rivalry. He chose to go there — he’s on the other side.”

The Sooners are just mere weeks from the start of the 2026 season. OU will begin the slate against UTEP on Sept. 4 — over a month before the Sooners battle the Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl on Oct. 10.

Because of the four games before Texas on the schedule, Livingstone isn’t looking ahead to his current team’s game against his former team.

“We have like four games until we play them, so kind of taking it one day at a time,” Livingstone said on Tuesday.

Livingstone has yet to play a game at Oklahoma. But he feels well adjusted to his new home.

The wide receiver got the chance to play alongside John Mateer and OU’s other quarterbacks during spring ball. That gave Livingstone the chance to learn offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle’s playbook.

Over the summer, the Sooners didn’t get to practice — but they still made the most of their time off. Livingstone said that he and his offensive teammates ran over 1,600 plays against OU’s defense in a non-contact fashion.

Now, the Sooners are a week into fall camp and under four weeks from the start of the regular season. And Livingstone believes he’s ready to make an impact.

“They’re challenging us mentally and physically, but you just keep on working and getting better, and it’s going to make the games a lot easier, make the game come faster to us,” Livingstone said. “You learn the offense, especially in fall camp, getting the installs in, going back to the basics — it’s been great.”

When Livingstone arrived in Norman, his thoughts on Texas were similarly blunt.

“I want to beat the crap out of Texas,” Livingstone said in March.

But now that OU’s opener is only a few weeks away, Livingstone is solely focused on steadily improving so that he and his teammates can beat UTEP, as well as the other 11 opponents on the schedule.

“That game’s gonna come when it comes, and it’s going to be a fun game,” Livingstone said. “But right now, we’re focused on fall camp and UTEP."
