Oklahoma redshirt freshman wide receiver Nic Anderson caught his first career touchdown pass in the second quarter of the Sooners' 66-17 victory over Tulsa in week three.

In the third quarter, Anderson hauled in two more touchdowns to cap of a three-catch, 120-yard outing against the Golden Hurricane. The 6-foot-4 pass catcher was the first OU player to catch three touchdowns on just three receptions since 2000, when Curtis Fagan accomplished the feat.

Anderson's spectacular outing earned the Katy, TX, native Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors.

After an injury-riddled true freshman season that saw the former 4-star recruit get one touch for five yards, Anderson received rave reviews from his teammates and coaches throughout fall camp.

In week one, the younger brother of former OU standout running back Rodney Anderson made two grabs for 68 yards. After not logging a catch against SMU, Nic Anderson made the most of his opportunity against Tulsa.

Anderson's most impressive touchdown catch of the day was his second score, when the redshirt freshman showed off his ability to break tackles in the open field. The 207-pound wideout caught a pass and turned upfield, stiff-arming one defender before tightroping the sideline and getting into the endzone.

During the game, OU's social media team posted a video of Rodney Anderson cheering on his younger brother from the stands.

After his dominant performance against Tulsa, Nic Anderson now has five catches for 188 yards and three touchdowns on the season. With a whopping 37.6 yards per catch average, Anderson is becoming a serious threat to opposing defenses.
