Local 4-star 2025 Tight End Announces Top 5 Schools

The Sooners are still in contention for one of the top 2025 in-state prospects after the star tight end released his top schools.

On Monday afternoon, 4-star Washington (OK) tight end Nate Roberts announced his Top 5 schools.

The local product's list included Ohio State, Oregon, Mississippi, Penn State and Oklahoma

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, Roberts is rated the No. 151 overall prospect and No. 5 tight end in the 2025 recruiting class. The Warriors standout has helped lead Washington to back-to-back state titles, taking down Jaden Nickens and the Millwood Falcons each year.

Nickens has since transferred to Douglass (OK), which is also in the Oklahoma City-metro.

Roberts' older brother, Jake Roberts, transferred to OU from Baylor over the offseason and will spend his final year of eligibility in Joe Jon Finley's tight end room.

With an impressive blend of size, speed and mobility, the Washington star is virtually unstoppable against other 2A opponents.

After taking down Millwood in the OSSAA state championship game back in early December, Roberts said Finley's promotion to offensive coordinator was important to him.

“It’s a big deal that he got moved up. I mean, I’m super excited for him,” Roberts said. “It does kind of change my mind, now that he has a say in throwing the ball to the tight end more. That definitely puts a smile on my face.”

While OU appears to have a good chance at landing the coveted tight end prospect, Ohio State and Penn State are stiff competitors in Roberts' recruitment. The local product does seem to have a good relationship with 2025 Sooners' commits Kevin Sperry and Elijah Thomas, however, which should help Finley and company.

If Oklahoma is able to land a commitment from Roberts, he would be the second 4-star tight end to come to Norman in the last two cycles after Davon Mitchell reclassified to join the Sooners' 2024 class.

In addition to Roberts, OU is still recruiting 4-star tight ends Linkon Cure, Chase Loftin and DaSaahn Brame.
