Six Oklahoma Players Honored on Softball America's Preseason All-American List

Coming off of their third consecutive national title, six Oklahoma athletes were named to Softball America's two Preseason All-American teams.
Veteran catcher Kinzie Hansen, third baseman Alyssa Brito, center fielder Jayda Coleman, second baseman Tiare Jennings and transfer pitcher Kelly Maxwell were named to the First Team with senior right-hander Nicole May being the lone Sooner to earn Second Team honors.
Hansen, entering her fifth season with the team, hit .409 last season with a whopping .759 slugging percentage. The Norco, CA, product also smashed 13 home runs and is consistently one of the best defensive players in the country.
Brito, who transferred to Norman after her freshman season at Oregon, batted .412 as a junior in 2023. The standout third baseman also led the team in home runs with 17 and had the highest slugging percentage on the team at .837.
Coleman, who is a stellar defender from the centerfield position, was a First-Team All-American last season and was named D1Softball's Defensive Player of the Year.
The Dallas-area product tied Brito for the team lead in home runs with 17 and finished the season with a .408 batting average. Coleman also led the team in steals with 16 last year.
Jennings, another defensive standout, was also named a First-Team All-American last season after hitting .415 and tying for the team-high 17 home runs. Additionally, Jennings notched 66 RBIs and a .781 slugging percentage in 2023.
Maxwell, who transferred to Norman from Oklahoma State over the offseason, threw over a 142 innings last season. In her outings, Maxwell tallied 229 strikeouts and allowed just 78 hits all season.
Now under the tutelage of Patty Gasso and Jen Rocha, Maxwell could elevate her game and become even more dominant.
May, who enters her senior year at Oklahoma, finished last season with an 18-0 record and just a 0.91 ERA. In over 107 innings pitched, May recorded 130 strikeouts while allowing just 60 hits.
The Sooners' season begins on Feb. 8 when OU takes on Utah Valley at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
