Ole Miss Rebels' Key Lawrence Enters Transfer Portal, But Not The One You Think

On Tuesday morning, reports indicated that Ole Miss Rebels safety transfer Key Lawrence had re-entered the transfer portal just months after joining the roster from the Oklahoma Sooners.
That's true. Sort of.
According to a spokesman from Ole Miss, there was a Key Lawrence on the roster who entered the portal on Tuesday, but it's not that Key Lawrence. The Rebels had two players on the team with that name, and the one who entered the portal was walk-on Keyshawn Lawrence.

That's good news for the Rebels, of course, due to the fact that the Oklahoma transfer is expected to make a big impact in the secondary this season. Lawrence recently spoke to the media where he outlined his reasons for choosing Ole Miss out of the portal, a lot of which boils down to family.
"I want my family to be able to see me play my last season," Lawrence said. "I also wanted to get back to the Southeastern Conference. ... I saw the players Ole Miss was getting in the portal and who they had coming back, and I said I want to be a part of that team. We’ve got a lot of talent on this team, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
The Rebels just concluded their spring drills, and their focus now shifts to the summer followed by fall camp. Once fall camp comes to a close, Ole Miss is set to open its season at home on Aug. 31 against the Furman Paladins.
