Isaiah Rubin, Four-Star Cornerback, Sets Commitment Date, Oregon a Finalist

2024 Los Alamitos (Calif.) High School cornerback Isaiah Rubin is on a mission this season.

After transferring in from Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Pines, he and the Griffins are off to a quick 3-0 start in 2023, along with Oregon linebacker commit Kamar Mothudi.

Rubin's play has generated some buzz on the recruiting trail, earning him 4-star status in the eyes of 247Sports.

Now, he sees the finish line in his recruitment and has set a commitment date for October 20.

Oregon was included among his finalists along with the UNLV Rebels, USC Trojans and Utah Utes.

Rubin camped with the Ducks in Eugene back in July for Saturday Night Live and came away from the trip feeling the love.

"Really the family feel,"Rubin told Ducks Digest about what stood out about the Ducks. "After the camp we stayed and we got to watch the (UFC) fight on the big jumbotron with the whole team so it was really like family. I love that about Oregon.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound defensive back has 10 reported scholarship offers, mostly featuring West Coast schools.

Torres' Take

Rubin is a solid defensive back that brings lots of playmaking upside to the table as a recruit. He told me his dad is a big USC fan, and he spoke very highly of his relationship with cornerbacks coach Donte Williams.

I'm not entirely sure if he's a take for the Trojans, who already have two cornerback commits, including local Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco standout and top-100 recruit Marcelles Williams.

I can tell you that I don't think Oregon is going to be the pick, as the Ducks already have two really solid cornerbacks committed in Dakoda Fields and Ify Obidegwu. If they do add another cornerback this cycle, I think their best bet is College of San Mateo (Calif.) junior college product Sione Laulea.

My gut is telling me that UNLV could be a likely landing spot here because of his strong roots in Las Vegas, but USC shouldn't be written off.
