NBA's Draymond Green Says Purdue's Zach Edey 'Quit' in National Championship

Golden State Warriors forward and former Michigan State star Draymond Green may have had the worst take of the NCAA Tournament. During the national championship on Monday, the four-time NBA champion said that Purdue star center Zach Edey "quit" during the game.

During Monday's game, Green gave a shoutout to UConn's Samson Johnson, who played just five minutes and fouled out of the contest. He said he "did his job" against Edey, forcing the 7-foot-4 center to "quit" in the game.

Here's a fun fact: Edey finished the game with 37 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. He scored 21 points in the second half.

"Job Well Done 35! You did your job tonight," Green said on X. "It was him that made Edey quit with about 19 minutes to go in the 2nd half. There was a turnover and I saw Edey body language walking back. He was done. Now rewatch the game from that point on."

Green knows basketball better than most of us, but that still seems like a wild take. Edey dropped 37 points in the game and posted a double-double in every NCAA Tournament game this season. At no point did it every seem like the two-time National Player of the Year quit on the Boilermakers.

UConn defeated Purdue 75-60 to win its second consecutive national title. The Boilers reached the national championship for the first time since 1969, and Edey was a huge reason why.

In his final season, Edey averaged 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. He leaves Purdue as the program's all-time leading scorer and rebounder.
