Gamecock Legend Advances To His First Ever Conference Championship Game
When South Carolina Gamecock fans think of the legendary football players who've taken the field in Williams-Brice Stadium, Jadeveon Clowney tops the list. Considering he used to play alongside JJ Watt with the Houston Texans, not many would assume it would've taken a decade for him to reach his first Conference Championship game. However, Clowney was able to snap that streak with the Baltimore Ravens this past Saturday against the team that drafted him No. 1 overall back in the 2014 draft.
From starting with the Texans and bouncing around the league between the Browns, Seahawks, and Titans, Clowney had gone through a career slump since 2018, accounting for just 14 total sacks in four seasons, until he landed with the Baltimore Ravens this past offseason. Since that time, Jadeveon has tied his career-high sack total in the regular season, and with the Ravens' 34-10 win this past Saturday against Houston, Clowney can finally say he's in his first Conference Championship game, and only two wins away from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
With the Chiefs win against the Bills on Sunday night, the former Gamecock star and his Baltimore teammates will face off against Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City this coming Sunday. Gamecock fans should tune in to see if Clowney can get that much closer to the promised land. He is forever a Gamecock legend, and now he's two games away from putting that final accolade on his already impressive football résumé.
