South Carolina Riding Momentum In 2024 Recruiting Class

The recent recruiting surge for South Carolina's Football program is a sign of the times for the Gamecocks.

Perhaps the most surprising revelation this off-season to everyone outside of the Palmetto State has been the emergence of the South Carolina Gamecocks as recruiting powerhouses. The school shocked the country earlier this year when five-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor picked South Carolina over Oregon, Michigan, and the home-state Maryland Terrapins.

That moment was months ago, and since, South Carolina has done an excellent job recruiting in the 2024 cycle. Since the start of the new year, the Gamecocks have received ten commitments in the class of 2024, eight of those being four stars. The tear they have been on in the recruiting trail has lead to Gamecocks currently possessing a Top 5 class according to On3, something the program has never achieved at the end of a cycle.

Predicting a 'first' in program history will always seem like a long shot, but the energy surrounding the team is electric and palpable. It seems when one recruit commits, the next one follows right after. This past Wednesday, the Gamecocks landed three recruits in a matter of two hours and are primed to keep going.

Head Coach Shane Beamer has been touted as one of the top-rising recruiters in the nation, and South Carolina's 2024 recruiting class reflects that. Even after the massive haul the Gamecocks received last week, the team is still in contention and even projected for many more recruits.

On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine has South Carolina leading for the following 2024 recruits; running backs Anthony Carrie and Peyton Lewis, athlete Daniel Hill, wide receiver Zy'Marrion Lang, defensive linemen D'Nas White, quarterback Jayden Bradford, and wide receiver Jonathan Paylor.

With an impressive group of guys still expected to commit to South Carolina, there is little reason to believe the Gamecocks' momentum on the recruiting path will falter. Time will tell exactly where the class will end up being ranked, but it's safe to say the Gamecocks are looking at a potentially historic recruiting class in the near future.
