Gamecock Football Target Deuce Knight Shines In Elite 11 Regional

South Carolina Football target Deuce Knight outperformed both prospects in his class, and rising seniors in an Elite 11 camp in Oxford last weekend.

With the Gamecocks having long-time 2024 commit Dante Reno in the fold, South Carolina's Football coaching staff has been able to set their sights on the 2025 recruiting class at the quarterback position. They've already dispensed two offers at this position, one to Alabama native KJ Lacey and another to local product AJ Brand out of Irmo High School.

Another quarterback, however, that Gamecock fans should keep a close eye on for this class is the pride of Lucedale, MS, in Deuce Knight. Knight visited Columbia on April 15th for the annual Garnet and Black Spring game and was impressed by the fan atmosphere and everything the program had to offer.

Right now is an important time for Deuce and other quarterbacks in his class as they begin to attend more national camps to display their skills in front of the top high school football scouts in the country. The most prominent camp is the Elite 11 Camp series, in which a group of multiple quarterbacks from different regions is whittled down to eleven final contestants that battle it out to see who the most talented rising senior is on the circuit.

Junior prospects are allowed to participate in regionals, which Deuce Knight did this past weekend in his home state of Mississippi. Knight didn't only finish as the top quarterback for his class but was the top-rated prospect in Oxford.

Deuce Knight later posted some of his official testing numbers recorded at the camp, giving insight into what led to his final rating of 122.28.

In terms of how his rating stacks up against quarterbacks from their Elite 11 performances, Deuce's rating of 122.28 was 0.33 points lower than Anthony Richardson, 2.25 points higher than Justin Fields, and 20.55 points higher than 2014 Heisman trophy winner Marcus Mariota. If Deuce Knight can continue to progress on the football field, combined with his athletic prowess, he could be the best prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.

Shane Beamer and the staff have yet to offer Knight, but that's expected to change in the near future, with the timeline maybe even being accelerated by this camp performance.
