WATCH: Texas A&M HC Michael Earley Has Intense Exchange With Kentucky Coach

Sunday afternoon was quite a hectic one for Texas A&M head coach Michael Earley.
Already down 10-5 to the Kentucky Wildcats Sunday afternoon, Coach Earley was well aware of the 4:30 curfew time that was in place for the series finale between the Aggies and Wildcats, meaning that at that time, whatever inning it was would be the final inning of the time, whether it was ninth inning or the first inning.
And Earley knew that Kentucky Wildcats coach Nick Mingione was aware of the rule as well.
So, as the time limit drew closer and closer and the Kentucky coach started calling mound visit after mound visit and even having what seemed like a rage-filled argument with home plate umpire Eddie Newsom that turned into nothing (not even an ejection), the Texas A&M head coach saw right through Mingione's bluff.
And needless to say, he was not happy about the coach's antics.
Earley was so enraged that a shouting match ensued between him and Mingione from their respective dugouts. Earley began marching toward the Kentucky dugout but was quickly held back by his fellow coaches and Newsom.

Once the dust settled on the argument, Caden Sorrell flew out to right, and the third game of the weekend series ended one inning early and resulted in a 10-5 victory for Kentucky.
Earley's frustration in the situation is obviously valid. His team had already cooked up one comeback win against the Wildcats on the weekend, who's to say Sunday couldn't have seen a repeat? Was Mingione fearful of another Aggie comeback?
A ninth-inning comeback was surely a stretch based off how the Aggie offense was performing Sunday, but it seems that we will never know.
Either way, some will think Mingione is smart for his actions, and some will view it as an act of cowardice. You be the judge.
The fifth inning that saw the Wildcats score four runs ate up a massive portion of the ballgame, with both halves of the inning taking up nearly 40 minutes in total.
After the game, Earley admitted that he told second baseman Ben Royo to intentionally strike out so that they could get to the final inning.
"It's even embarassing to talk about, but I told Royo that if Kaeden (Kent) got out, strikeout on purpose to get to the bottom of the inning." said Earley.
Regardless of thoughts on the matter, the Aggies now sit a disappointing 1-8 in conference play and will host Incarnate Word Tuesday night hoping to find a speckle of positivity as their gloomy 2025 season moves along.
