TCU Men's Basketball: Frogs Storm Back to Defeat Baylor

A career night for Mike Miles led the way to a furious comeback in Waco on Wednesday night.

It took another second half comeback for the No. 17 TCU Horned Frogs to get their 10th consecutive win on the season beating No. 19 Baylor 88-87. It also marks the second-consecutive victory that the Frogs had to erase a large deficit to win. They trailed Texas Tech by as much as 13 on Saturday.

TCU trailed as much as 17 in the first half. It was a slow start for the offense but they flipped the script in the second half. Mike Miles scored the first 13 points of the second half for the Frogs en route to a 33-point outing. It's the largest scoring output for a TCU player since Desmond Bane lit up Texas for 34 points in 2019.

It took some late game heroics for TCU to pull this one out. The Bears led by four with a minute left in the contest. Eddie Lampkin got a massive offensive rebound off the Miles' miss and laid it in to cut the lead to two. Lampkin would finish with 15 points and nine rebounds. A pair of Keyonte George free throws brought the lead back to four, but a huge three by Miles had the Frogs within striking distance.

Baylor couldn't capitalize on the other end and Chuck O'Bannon got the defender in the air and knocked down the jumper to give the Frogs the lead with four seconds remaining. Xavier Cork denied the layup by George and the Frogs fended off the Bears.

This TCU team has proven they can score fast. They lead the nation in fast break points and added 23 to the total last night. The season low seven turnovers is something Jamie Dixon would like to see more of moving forward.

This marked the first time TCU and Baylor squared off as ranked teams. The win was the first time in TCU program history for the Frogs to get a road-win when both teams were in the AP Top 20. And it was also TCU's first win in Waco since 2018. After a slow start to the season, the Frogs are on fire improving their record to 13-1. With so many returning players, this team has a lot of chemistry on the court and will be a dangerous team to face. Their next matchup will come against Iowa State at home on Saturday, 1 pm.
