Welcome to November. The Race to Arlington is underway. Every team has had their bye week. We have a full slate of seven conference games each week for the last four weeks.

Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy (8) carries the ball during the Texas Longhorns football game against Kansas State at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022.

Kansas State and Texas, both 4-1 in Big 12 play, face each other in Austin in a pivotal Week 10 matchup.

The standings right now have five teams at the top. Week 10 brings some very pivotal games that will put a few teams in the driver’s seat for a berth in Arlington.

2023 Big 12 Predictions Results

On the season, I am 47-30 (.610) in predicting Big 12 games. Last week, I went 4-2. I did not believe the Jayhawks would pull off the upset, but they did. I also thought UCF would finally win a conference game, but it remains elusive for the Knights.

Here are the previous predictions from earlier this season:

Big 12 Week 10 Matchups and Predictions

All times listed are Central Time.

Texas Tech (3-5, 2-3) vs. TCU (4-4, 2-3)

Thursday, 6 p.m., FS1

Thursday night football in Lubbock. Over the summer, we were looking at this game as potentially one of the season's best games. Now, you’ve got the two most Jekyll and Hyde teams of the conference playing each other. Both are coming off of bye weeks. Both have experienced injuries at quarterback. The Frogs have won the last four in Lubbock. Can they extend that, or has their luck run out? This could go either way, but I’m giving the Red Raiders a slight edge.

Pick: Texas Tech

#7 Texas (7-1, 4-1) vs. #25 Kansas State (6-2, 4-1)

Saturday, 11 a.m., Fox

This is the first of several monumental games in the Big 12 this week. Both teams need a win to stay in the race. Maalik Murphy came in last week for the Longhorns, but they played an atrocious BYU team. However, the K-State defense has been a force, having not allowed a touchdown in the last nine quarters. Meanwhile, the K-State QB duo of Howard/Johnson is rolling. The Cats have outscored their opponents 89-3 in those nine quarters.

Pick: Kansas State

Oklahoma State (6-2, 4-1) vs. #10 Oklahoma (7-1, 4-1)

Saturday, 2:30 p.m., ABC

Bedlam! It’s the last time these two will meet, at least for the foreseeable future. The Bedlam game is always interesting. Now add the emotion of it being the last one and being in Stillwater, this could get interesting. Then there’s OSU running back Ollie Gordon, averaging over 200 rushing yards per game in his last four games. This game is going to be all Pokes.

Pick: Oklahoma State

Baylor (3-5, 2-3) vs. Houston (3-5, 1-4)

Saturday, 2:30 p.m., Big 12 Now on ESPN+

This season hasn’t gone as expected in Waco. Both teams need three wins out of their last four to go bowling. That path is a lot easier for Houston, who still gets to play UCF and Cincinnati. The Bears are done. Houston will dominate this game, and the best thing we will see is more Baylor Tears.

Pick: Houston

Cincinnati (2-6, 0-5) vs. UCF (3-5, 0-5)

Saturday, 2:30 p.m., FS1

The good news here is one of these “newbies” will finally get their first-ever Big 12 conference win. UCF quarterback John Rhys Plumlee is back from injury and has shown some signs of what we expected from him over the summer. The Knights should not have any problems here.

Pick: UCF

West Virginia (5-3, 3-2) vs. BYU (5-3, 3-2)

Saturday, 6 p.m., FS1

The winner of this game will bet to go bowling, which was not expected of either team at the beginning of the season. Neal Brown began the year on the hottest of hot seats, which has drastically cooled down. West Virginia is a Hail Mary throw away from being part of the top-of-the-league standings. The Mountaineers should take care of business, and BYU will have to wait another week to try and become bowl eligible.

Pick: West Virginia

Iowa State (5-3, 4-1) vs. #22 Kansas (6-2, 4-1)

Saturday, 6 p.m., ESPN

There’s a lot at stake with this game. Iowa State is one of five teams at the top of the standings. Based on head-to-head games, we know two of those will lose in Week 10. A win by the Cyclones gets them bowl eligible and in the driver’s seat for a spot in Arlington since they have the tiebreaker over OSU (assuming OSU beats OU). Kansas is already going bowling and is only one game back. Give the edge in this game to the crowd in Ames. Iowa State squeaks out a win.

Pick: Iowa State
