UCLA Football: Watch HC DeShaun Foster Mic'd Up for Bruins Practice

Take a first look at new UCLA football head coach DeShaun Foster running this year's Bruins squad. Foster was recently mic'd up as the Bruins recently began their spring practices this week. Throughout the video, Foster can be seen speaking to players, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, and UCLA athletic director Martin Jarmond. Foster appeared to bring the energy and enthusiasm at practice in the video.

This is an initial glimpse of Foster in the head coaching role for UCLA. While Foster has been part of the UCLA coaching staff for years, working as an assistant or running back coach for all but one season from 2013-2023, this is his first time leading the entire team. These practices will lead into the first game action for the Bruins under Foster, when they hold their spring football game at the Rose Bowl on April 27.

The Bruins are looking for Foster to help turn the football program into a true contender as they enter the Big Ten. Under Chip Kelly, UCLA had some winning seasons, but he finished with just a 35-34 overall record and a 26-26 conference record in the Pac-12. The Bruins have to improve on that to keep up with top programs like Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State in the Big Ten.

Foster has begun the work, putting immediate efforts into improving NIL opportunities and recruiting for the program, two factors that will go a long way to revamping the team and helping the squad have a shot at contending.
