UCLA Football: Bruins Offer 2024 MSU QB Commit

In this story:
UCLA suffered an inordinate amount of injuries this year at the quarterback position.
The three QBs atop the depth chart -- Ethan Garbers, Dante Moore, Collin Schlee -- all missed time due to various injuries. It's probably the main reason as to why the Bruins dropped two very winnable games versus a beat-up Utah team and an undermanned Arizona State squad.
Alas -- Chip Kelly seems motivated to further enhance the depth of the position for future seasons. Earlier this week, Kelly extended a scholarship offer to a 2024 quarterback with a very famous last name.

3-star QB Henry Hasselbeck reported receiving an offer from the staff. If that last name sounds familiar, it's because Henry comes from a family with a very strong football background.
Henry's dad is Matt Hasselbeck, the 3-time Pro Bowler who's widely considered to be one of the better signal-callers in Seattle Seahawks history. Uncle Tim Hasselbeck was also an NFL quarterback -- playing for seven different NFL franchises throughout his career.
As for Henry, he's carving out his own path. An all-state football player in the state of Massachusetts, he originally committed to Michigan State over offers from Pitt, Boston College, Arizona, and Georgia Tech. With Mel Tucker being fired a few months after Hasselbeck committed, there's still an unknown as to what Michigan State will do from a head coaching standpoint.

Henry is not only a fantastic student, but he's a true dual-threat athlete from the quarterback spot. He also hails from the same region of the country as Kelly -- not to mention the two share obvious NFL roots. Kelly loves players who are multi-sport athletes. Like his sisters, Henry is also a noted lacrosse player.
On paper, this seems like a rather nice fit. UCLA currently has the commitment of one other QB within its class -- a speedy athlete out of Texas called Karson Gordon.
It will be interesting to watch whether the Bruins can get Hasselback out to Los Angeles for an official visit before the first signing day period in December.
