UCLA Basketball: Bruins Pac-10 DPOY-Turned-NBA MVP A Frontrunner For 2024 Award

In this story:
As the new NBA gets going soon, UCLA Bruins fans can be comforted knowing that one of their own resides in their own backyard. That would be former Bruins point guard Russell Westbrook, who re-signed with the Los Angeles Clippers this past offseason.
After being traded away from the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline a season ago, Westbrook found a home with the other LA team. The Clippers brought Westbrook in and embraced him fully from day one.
It was nice seeing the former Bruin enjoying basketball again and playing well on the court. Even during his UCLA days, Westbrook always had a smile on his face, so it was great to see it again.
He enters this season ready to help the Clippers compete for their first-ever NBA Championship, and he should get a ton of playing time once again. Westbrook was a valuable member of the team down the stretch of the season, and now he has had more time within their system.
According to BetOnline, Westbrook is listed with solid odds of winning the Sixth Man of the Year Award for this coming season. He currently is sitting at the odds of +3300, which could be a good bet for someone to throw some money on.
If one thing is certain, it is that Westbrook will be in the lineup. He hardly misses games, which could boost his chances of winning the award.
His ability to get up the court and attack the rim is like no other in the league today. Westbrook still has his speed, and it has helped him as he has gotten older.
It should be another good season for the former UCLA product, and fans will be able to see him play in person. UCLA loves Westbrook, and he loves UCLA. It's been great to see the connection remain strong, and it likely always will.
