UCLA men's basketball point guard Tyger Campbell spoke with reporters ahead of Tuesday morning's practice session at the Mo Ostin Basketball Center. Campbell talked about pushing for a Pac-12 championship, Amari Bailey's goofier side, what it takes to enjoy winning streaks in the moment and the keys to beating Utah on the road.

How badly do you want to win the Pac-12 regular season title?

Well, of course, like always, you always take it one game at a time. We’re just focused on Utah right now. But, you know, I’ve been here for four years and we’ve never won the conference, so of course that’s on my mind. That’s the goal, but we’re just trying to win on Thursday at Utah.

Seen the goofball side of Amari?

I mean, He’s probably the youngest guy in our locker room, I think. I think just being a kid comes with all that stuff but, you know, he’s just a funny guy. He’s really caring. You know? He’s just a different type of guy. It’s kind of like what you said J(aylen Clark) - he’s just goofy. But when it’s time to play, he’s ready. That’s all that matters.

Celebrating Amari, Jaime's birthdays?

We got some extra studying done… for practice on Monday.

No cake?

Yeah, we had a cake in the locker room after the game on Saturday, but that was our celebration. I got a nice piece of cake.

Enjoying the moment?

Yeah, for sure. But we try not to get too high or too low, and so we’re just trying to stay composed and act like we haven’t won anything yet. Because we haven’t. There’s still four more games until hopefully we can win the conference.

Pay attention to brackets?

Yeah, not until Selection Sunday. Guess I’ll just wait until then to see where we are.

Key to success in Utah?

We just got to come ready. They have a great team. I think the big man that didn’t play last time is back. We just have to play composed. On the road, you can’t turn it over and your defense really has to do its thing. That’s just what we’re focusing on this week - defense and not turning the ball over.
