USC Football: Offensive Line Shortcomings Have Expert Pining For Alum

Unfortunately, the alum isn't walking through those doors...

One of the biggest problems for the USC Trojans football team has been the performance of their offensive line. The struggles of the big guys up front seem to fall by the wayside compared to the Trojans defensive issues. But in reality, they are just important to the success of this team.

The problems of the offensive line really showed in the loss to Notre Dame last week, and the team needs to find a way to fix things moving forward.

One writer gave a former member of the Trojans offensive line a grade for this game simply because of how bad the current unit has been. The player in question would be former USC lineman Andrew Vorhees, who now plays for the Baltimore Ravens after being drafted this year.

“We’re giving him an A because his elite performance for this offensive line in 2022 now becomes that much more important in retrospect. He gutted it out against Notre Dame and helped USC’s offensive line control the Irish’s defensive line. Vorhees’ career and legacy were magnified and enhanced Saturday night in South Bend, even though he wasn’t in uniform for USC.”

While Vorhees is off to the NFL, it doesn't mean that fans can't appreciate what he did during his time with the Trojans. The problems with the offensive line this season have been apparent, and the Trojans really miss having someone like him around.

Quarterback Caleb Williams isn't getting enough time to throw the ball, which is a big problem. Williams is one of the most talented players to come through the program in a long time, and he needs time to scan the field and make plays.

If he can't do that, it doesn't matter how many points the defense allows because the offense won't score. It will be the same thing that happened against Notre Dame, and this Trojans team can't have that happen again.
