The Virginia Cavaliers are currently ranked fifth in the ACC standings, riding a 7-5 record in conference play. Florida State, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Boston College sit just above UVA in the standings. With their season well underway, projections are starting to become more telling—how far can the Hoos make it in their 2026 campaign?

Jonathan Wagner of On3 recently released his updated Field of 64 projections for college baseball, providing fans with a glimpse of where things stand with their respective programs. Here's how things are looking after Week 7.

As noted by Wagner, the Cavaliers are the No. 13 overall seed. In the Charlottesville Regional, UCF trails Virginia, followed by LSU and George Mason. Wagner wrote:

"Despite falling over the weekend against Boston College, Virginia remains a host as the No. 13 overall seed. They’re 22-7 overall, 7-5 in the ACC, and need to get back to their winning ways to solidify their spot in the top 16. UCF is another team that was tough to cut from the hosting line, but come in just short. They’re still third in our projected Big 12 pecking order, but will undoubtedly be in the hosting mix if they stay as hot as they are. And here is LSU, who just won a series against Kentucky this past weekend."

Of course, the SEC still tops the other conferences with 12 teams in the projected field, but the ACC is a close second—they have 10 programs in the field.

After Virginia won its Tuesday matchup against Old Dominion in Charlottesville, Va., the Hoos will be welcoming the Seminoles for a tough three-game set against the Seminoles. The first game of the series is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, at 5 p.m. ET, and fortunately for the Hoos, this will be yet another homestand. From there, they will host James Madison on Tuesday, April 7.

The Cavaliers have been rock solid when it comes to their pitching staff, and their power at the plate has also been incredibly beneficial. Maintaining this momentum is key if they want to knock down their upcoming opponents.

This is a new year for the Cavaliers, and they're looking to redeem themselves. But do they have what it takes to continue meeting expectations, or will they start running out of fuel once April play hits?
