The Cavaliers have joined the fray for the No. 1 recruit in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the class of 2025. Four-star forward Nate Ament, who plays at Colgan High School in Manassas, Virginia, reported on Monday morning that he has received an offer from Virginia.

The UVA coaching staff, and specifically associate head coach Jason Williford, have been targeting Ament since direct contact recruiting first opened for the class of 2025 in June. Ament was one of the first class of 2025 recruits to be contacted by Virginia when the unlimited contact period began and UVA has watched him play multiple times since then.

A 6'7" small forward, Ament is a consensus four-star prospect and is rated the No. 22 overall recruit in the country by 247Sports as well as the No. 3 small forward in the class of 2025, and, as previously mentioned, the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia. Naturally, Nate Ament's recruitment is a competitive battle with Maryland, Creighton, Iowa, Illinois, Wake Forest, Providence, Penn State, Mississippi State, and others already extending offers to the talented wing.

The Cavaliers haven't had reeled in many of the state's top recruits during the Tony Bennett era, but it seems the Virginia coaching staff is looking to put an end to that in this recruiting cycle. UVA has now extended offers to two of the top in-state recruits in the class of 2025, as Charlottesville's own Chance Mallory, a four-star point guard from St. Anne's-Belfield, picked up an offer from the Cavaliers in late June.

Virginia has now offered 10 players in the recruiting class of 2025:
