Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez made history Monday afternoon.

The All-Star third baseman got aboard via a walk to lead off the third inning against the Kansas City Royals. On the fourth pitch of the ensuing at-bat, Ramírez got a jump and safely swiped second.

It was Ramírez's 26th stolen base of the season and the 200th of his career.

Ramírez is now the fourth active player with 200-plus home runs and 200-plus stolen bases, according to MLB Stats. Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen and Houston Astros second baseman José Altuve are the other three players on the list alongside Ramírez.

There have now been 52 players in MLB history to join the 200-200 club, which is headlined by Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Rickey Henderson and a long list of baseball legends and Hall of Famers.

Ramírez ranks third among primary third basemen in stolen bases since 1942, trailing only the Oakland Athletics' Carney Lansford and the New York Mets' Howard Johnson.

For his career, Ramírez is a .279 hitter with 216 home runs, 324 doubles, 1,313 hits, 744 RBI an .840 OPS and a 45.3 WAR. Ramírez has made five All-Star Games and won four Silver Sluggers, all while finishing top-six in AL MVP voting in five of the last six seasons.

Ramírez's age 30 season is coming to a close, and he is batting .279 with 24 home runs and 26 stolen bases. He is under contract with Cleveland until 2029.

The next stop for Ramírez is the 300-300 club, which consists of just eight players – Bonds, Willie Mays, Andre Dawson, Bobby Bonds, Reggie Sanders, Steve Finley, Álex Rodríguez and Carlos Beltran. At his current pace, Ramírez will reach 300 home runs in late 2026 and 300 stolen bases in early 2028.

As for the Guardians, they blew a two-run lead to the Royals in the eighth inning Monday to fall to 72-79. While they have yet to be mathematically eliminated from the 2023 postseason, FanGraphs gives the team a mere 0.1% chance of sneaking by with an AL Central title.
