Looking Back at Every Modern Trade Between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees agreed to a rare trade Tuesday night.
Outfielder Alex Verdugo is moving from Boston to New York following what was just the eighth trade between the two bitter rivals since the Divisional Era began in 1969.
The Red Sox selling Babe Ruth to the Yankees in 1919 is obviously the most famous trade the clubs have pulled off, but that was a different time – before free agency, before divisions, before interleague play, before the luxury tax and so on. Ever since MLB started to approach its modern-day form, Boston and New York have seldom made deals with one another.
