Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a stress fracture in his left fourth toe, the team announced Saturday morning.

Taking Fraley's place on the roster is outfielder TJ Hopkins, who was recalled from Triple-A Louisville in an associated move. Right-hander Lyon Richardson has also been added to Cincinnati's taxi squad.

Fraley last played Thursday against the Chicago Cubs, finishing 0-for-3 with a walk. He played a full game that day, but did not appear in Friday's series opener versus the Washington Nationals.

The 28-year-old has appeared in 92 of the Reds' 112 games this season, carving out an everyday role in the corner outfield spots. Fraley has already notched career highs across the board with 15 home runs, 14 doubles, 20 stolen bases, 63 RBI, a .263 batting average and an .813 OPS.

The only Reds with a higher OPS than Fraley this season are rookies Matt McLain and Spencer Steer.

Fraley was on pace to string together a similar campaign in 2022, but a stint on the 60-day injured list prevented him from truly breaking out. Prior to that, Fraley was a rotational outfielder with the Seattle Mariners.

TJ Freidl, Will Benson, Stuart Fairchild and Steer are expected to hold down the fort in the Reds' outfield during Fraley's absence.

Fraley is the second lineup regular to hit the Reds' injured in the past week, with second baseman Johnathan India going on it last Sunday. Cincinnati isn't expected to be without both of them for very long, though, since India is on track to rejoin the active roster on Tuesday.

In the meantime, the shorthanded Reds need to pick up wins on Saturday and Sunday to avoid losing a series to the last-place Nationals on their own home turf.

Cincinnati is currently 59-53, 0.5 games back of the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central and third in the NL Wild Card race.
