Milwaukee Brewers Finally Activate Young Outfielder Garrett Mitchell From Injured List

In this story:
The Milwaukee Brewers have reinstated outfielder Garrett Mitchell from the 60-day injured list, the team announced Thursday.
Mitchell first hit the injured list on April 19 due to left shoulder subluxation. He was moved from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list on April 30.
The Brewers sent Mitchell to Triple-A Nashville for a rehab assignment on Sept. 15. In eight games of minor league ball, Mitchell hit .308 with an .819 OPS.
To make room for Mitchell on the active roster, the Brewers designated third baseman and right fielder Brian Anderson for assignment.

Mitchell made his MLB debut on Aug. 27, 2022, a few months after he was recognized as the No. 1 prospect in the Brewers' farm system. In 28 big league appearances that season, Mitchell hit .311 with two home runs, eight RBI, nine stolen bases and an .832 OPS.
The 2020 first round pick out of UCLA was on Milwaukee's Opening Day roster in 2023, and he was batting .259 with three home runs, six RBI and a .772 OPS through 16 games before he went down with his shoulder injury.
In his absence, the Brewers emerged as NL Central champions, clinching their fifth playoff berth in six years as a result. Milwaukee now has another outfielder to turn to this postseason, adding Mitchell to fellow rookies Sal Frelick and Blake Perkins and veterans Christian Yelich, Mark Canha and Tyrone Taylor.
Mtichell will make his first appearance in over five months Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals, starting in center field and batting ninth. First pitch from American Family Field is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET.
