With the Arizona Diamondbacks fighting for their playoff lives, Corbin Carroll remained speedy on the basepaths.

The rookie outfielder recorded his NL-best 10th triple of the season in the top of the third inning against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. Carroll made it from home to third in just 10.85 seconds, and he scored on a sacrifice fly by second baseman Ketel Marte just moments later.

According to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, Carroll's latest triple is tied for the sixth-fastest home-to-third time tracked by Statcast since the start of the 2022 season. Carroll also holds the No. 1, 4 and 6 spots, while Cincinnati Reds rookie shortstop Elly De La Cruz has claim to the No. 2, 3 and 5 spots.

Carroll, who got his first taste of MLB action last fall, is the heavy favorite to win NL Rookie of the Year in 2023. In 153 games, Carroll has racked up 25 home runs, 76 RBI and 52 stolen bases while batting .287 with an .871 OPS.

As for his ability to leg out a triple, Carroll is now the first rookie to crack double digits since Minnesota Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario and Texas Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields did so in 2015.

Carroll's efforts Thursday afternoon ultimately were not enough to lift the Diamondbacks to victory, as the White Sox came out on top 3-1. Despite Carroll going 2-for-4, the rest of Arizona's lineup combined to go 1-for-25.

As it stands, the Diamondbacks are 84-75, which has them as the second NL Wild Card team entering the final weekend of the regular season. They hold a 1.5-game lead over the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins, who are tied for the third and final spot.
