Sunday's game between the Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Guardians has been postponed due to inclement weather, the teams have announced.

Rain in the forecast led to the afternoon showdown in Minneapolis getting bumped off the schedule. The game will be made up on Aug. 9 as part of a double-header.

The Guardians had a chance to go for the road sweep Sunday, after winning on Thursday and Saturday. The teams had a scheduled off-day Friday.

Cleveland spoiled Minnesota's home opener Thursday by taking a 3-0 lead in the fourth and never looking back. The Twins went down in order in the bottom of the ninth and got stuck with the 4-2 loss.

In game two, it was Minnesota that struck first. First baseman Alex Kirilloff's RBI triple put the Twins on top 1-0 in the first inning, but the Guardians answered with a three-run home run from catcher David Fry in the top of the second.

No other runs came across the rest of the day, and Cleveland snatched the 3-1 win as a result.

The Twins won't get a chance to avenge those two losses for over a month. The AL Central foes next face off from May 17 to 19, playing three games in Cleveland that weekend.

After that, the Twins and Guardians will go nearly three months between bouts. Their three-game series from Aug. 9 to 11 will now feature a fourth contest, with a double-header set to take place that Friday.

Game one will start at 2:10 p.m. ET, while game two is scheduled to get underway at 8:10 p.m. ET.
