Minnesota Twins' Key Piece Gives Important Injury Update as He Works Back

Still scheduled to miss more than a month of action, Minnesota Twins' third baseman Royce Lewis revealed that he had a PRP injection to help aid his injured quad.

After injuring his quad on Opening Day, Minnesota Twins' third baseman Royce Lewis revealed that he had a PRP injection to help his healing.

Per Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com on social media:

Royce Lewis said he got a PRP injection to help his quad heal. Spoke of his urgency to obviously get back to the field as quickly as he can.

Despite the injection, Lewis is still expected to miss at least a month of action.

Formerly a top prospect, the 24-year-old California native has played just 71 career games since debuting in 2022. He played only 12 games in 2022 and 58 in 2023 as injuries continue to be a frustrating part of his career narrative.

However, when he does play, he's remarkably effective offensively. He hit 15 homers in just 58 games last season for the Twins and then showed out again in the playoffs. He was 2-for-2 on Opening Day before getting hurt, including a home run.

Right now, the Twins are 3-2 on the season. They are coming off a season in which they won the American League Central and advanced to the American League Division Series. They lost to the Houston Astros in that round but did beat the Blue Jays in the wild card.

The Twins are taking on their AL-Central rivals, the Cleveland Guardians, for the opening game of a new series on Thursday afternoon.

First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m. ET as Tanner Bibee (0-0, 6.75 ERA) pitches against Pablo Lopez (1-1, 1.29 ERA).
