Seattle Mariners Go Viral For 2024 Commercial Series

In this story:
In the mid-2000s, the Seattle Mariners' marketing team was known for its creative and awesome commercials that would come out before each season. Heck, in most years the commercials were better than the team itself. Over the years, Felix Hernandez, Ichiro Suzuki and Kyle Seager have all starred in successful and hilarious M's commercials, just to name a few.
Well, the commercials took a few years off, but they are back in a big way in 2024, delighting M's fans at every turn.
Take a look at this one, which was released on Thursday, featuring Julio Rodriguez and Ichiro Suzuki.

The "No Fly Zone" is an homage to Rodriguez's defensive celebration. The inclusion of Ichiro is absolutely classic as Ichiro is known as an all-time great defender, and is also known to be a good friend of Rodriguez. The two stars are often seen playing catch together on the field.
Then there was this one, which features starting pitcher Luis Castillo as "The Rock."

Another classic here, since Castillo is nicknamed 'The Rock' himself. Furthermore, Castillo certainly pulls off the classic look that Dwayne Johnson had in the 1990s with the high black turtleneck. Also, a great shoutout to Mitch Haniger at the end of the commercial for his comment about things changing in Seattle. Haniger wasn't there in 2023 after signing with the San Francisco Giants, so it's a nice subtle play on his return this season.
And finally, perhaps the best commercial of all includes Cal Raleigh driving the pitching staff to work in a "Big Dumper" truck.

Now, a few things on this one... Raleigh's use of the automatic locking device is excellent. It's also interesting to note that Castillo isn't in this commercial (perhaps because he was working on his own), and Logan Gilbert gets to ride shotgun presumably because of the seniority he has over the rest of the remaining staff.
The M's commercials were certainly golden -- now let's hope they can be just as good on the field.
Seattle opens up the season on Thursday against the Boston Red Sox at 10:10 p.m. ET.
