Francis Ngannou is still unquestionably one of the most dangerous mixed martial artists on the planet, but not everyone wants the former UFC Heavyweight Champion to succeed. After having a falling out with the UFC over how much he should be paid, the heavyweight champion left the promotion and signed with the Professional Fighters League (PFL).

Ngannou now is looking to crossover into the boxing world and has announced he has inked a deal to fight superstar heavyweight Tyson Fury. How much he will get paid for the fight has been heavily disputed.

Former UFC Fighter Brendan Schaub opened up about the super fight on his MMA podcast “The Schaub Show,” and said he believes there are UFC loyalists trying to suppress how much money Ngannou will make.

“So, it’s just their way of sabotaging Francis,” Schaub said. “Don’t believe it. When I saw 8 million, I was like you guys are hilarious. Francis is making way more money than that. Way more.”

Many different numbers have been thrown around, but Ngannou’s manager recently said this single fight will earn him more money than he has made in his entire UFC career. One of the people accused of trying to put a damper on the fight is legendary boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, who initially said he heard the bout would be an exhibition match. Schaub believes there are ulterior motives.

“Why did Eddie Hearn leak that out? Well, this is his competition. He lost the fight, he couldn’t get a fight done with Francis and his guy so he’s going to make this look bad,” Schaub said. “Also Eddie Hearn is in cahoots with Dana [White]. You think Dana wants Francis to look good? No, no, no. So, what can we do to ruin this thing?"
