The UFC heads west for a Fight Night installment in Sacramento, CA, in the second-to-last event in August. A 13-fight card culminates Saturday night at the Golden 1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings, which will see UFC middleweight contenders Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues top the card in a five-round, non-title headline attraction.

Hernandez (15-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) has won eight of his last nine fights since April 2022, with his lone loss coming against current UFC Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland (31-7 MMA, 18-7 UFC) in Texas in February, which ultimately led to Strickland winning the title against ex-champion Khamzat Chimaev (15-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) in May in the main event of UFC 328 in New Jersey.

To remain in a crowded middleweight title mix, the No. 7-ranked Hernandez will try to halt the momentum of the surging No.10-ranked Brazilian, Rodrigues (19-6 MMA, 10-3 UFC), who rebounded from a loss to Jared Cannonier (18-10 MMA, 11-10 UFC) last February with a three-fight winning streak to stay firmly in the Top-10 at 185 pounds.

Leading up to the fight, Hernandez, who will be competing in his home state, said he is grateful to be the main event with so much at stake, should he walk away victorious. But Rodrigues, despite not being an easy out, is vulnerable, Hernandez said.

"Wrestling and weighing on people, I think that alone will slow him down," Hernandez told CBS Sports. "He's a heavy, dangerous hard hitter. I think slowing him down would be the smartest way to victory."

Slowing Rodrigues down isn't as easy as it might seem. His individual statistics tell a different story, as 78 percent of his wins haven't needed the judges' scorecards, securing seven UFC wins by KO/TKO since 2021.

Gregory Rodrigues Ignores UFC Sacramento Hostility

Rodrigues, however, appears unbothered by Hernandez's newfound sense of motivation fresh off a loss to the current champion.

"I did my homework, and I know what I need to do on Saturday night," Rodrigues told UFC.com. "I'm ready to do what I need to do, and I'm gonna enjoy it, live this moment.”

Similar to UFC 330 in Philadelphia last Saturday, the prelims start early at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT, followed by main card action at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The entire event will stream live on Paramount+, which can be accessed here with a Paramount+ subscription (and a tap on the "UFC" collection under the "Sports" category).
