VIDEO: Charles Oliveira Starches Beneil Dariush At UFC 289

Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush shared the Octagon at UFC 289.
The 155-pound tilt was held inside Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It co-headlined UFC 289. Ahead of the fight, Dariush insisted that he was promised a UFC Lightweight Championship opportunity with a win over "do Bronx." Oliveira also expected another title fight if he defeated Dariush.
Going into the fight, Dariush was riding an eight-fight winning streak. He hadn't been defeated since March 2018 when he was knocked out by Alexander Hernandez.
Oliveira was hoping to rebound after being submitted by Islam Makhachev back in October 2022. For "do Bronx," a win over Dariush would put him in prime position for another UFC title fight.

Oliveira ended up proving he isn't close to being finished at the top of the lightweight division. He took the action right to Dariush and peppered him with punches. His opponent crumbled to the mat and the fight was stopped in the opening frame.
