UFC CEO Dana White Non-Committal On Retirement: "I'll Die Working"
UFC CEO Dana White is a maverick of the MMA business.
Having been in place as the frontman to lead the UFC's business since 2001, which saw White turn a once laughable $2 million investment into $4.025 billion, the money, fame, and fortune came to the 54-year-old faster than he could have imagined.
Nonetheless, White, who signed a seven-year contract extension in 2019 to stay on with Endeavor and run the UFC, has no plans of hanging up the proverbial gloves anytime soon.
In a podcast interview with Vivek Ramaswamy released Monday, White said his continued passion for the sport drives him to wake up every morning and grind.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll never retire," White said. "I'll die working."
White says the promotion could not be in a better place than it is today, all thanks to his team behind the scenes making every event, Fight Night or pay-per-view, possible.
"No one guy does anything by himself, right?" White said. "You have somebody who is the vision, and gets everything set up, but you need a team to really accomplish the things I want to accomplish. And over the last 23 years, I built the biggest, baddest team in all of sports. I'll put my team against any other team in any other sport anywhere."
The UFC took a rare week-long break before it returns Saturday night with UFC Vegas 85 at the UFC APEX. It culminates in its 11th week when the promotion puts on UFC 300 on April 13 in Las Vegas, Nev.
At press time, a main event has not been finalized.
