Blazin Jetolena Crosses $13 Million Milestone as Top Barrel Sire

Jeff and Andrea Busby of Busby Quarter Horses reached a milestone that every stallion owner dreams about.

At the end of July, they shared that the late, great Blazin Jetolena had crossed the $13,000,000 mark in progeny earnings. Lovingly known as "Jet," the sorrel stallion had an impressive career inside the arena before becoming a standout sire.

Jet was a seven-time futurity champion and was Equistat's No. 1 Barrel Futurity Horse in the Nation in 2003. He went on to find even more success in the barrel pen, later helping Melanie Southard qualify for the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in 2005.

In January 2023, at the age of 24, Jet passed away peacefully due to a sudden cardiac event. Thanks to the miracles of modern science and medicine, his legacy did not end there.

Sired by Lenas Sugar Daddy and out of Blazin Jennie Jet by Jet of Honor, Jet had lifetime earnings of $95,201, per QData. As of August 7, QData records show total progeny earnings of $13,120,814 and 818 AQHA-registered foals.

Currently, his top earner is WPRA Barrel Racing World Champion and NFR Average Champion (in two different years with two different jockeys), Jets Top Gun. "Benny" has amassed $1,093,565 in career earnings for the Busbys.

From aged events to professional rodeo, Benny has dominated at the elite level with Andrea Busby, Brittany Pozzi-Tonozzi, and Jana Bean. After a lengthy break following surgery, Benny returned to his winning ways in the summer of 2026.

Another NFR qualifier, Blingolena (owned and ridden by Carlee Otero), comes in at No. 2, with $681,075 in lifetime earnings.

Some of the other superstars on the list include: Sheza Blazin Move (NFR qualifier and top-producing dam), SBW Copy Cat, Blazin Sugar Daddy, Jets Letters Ta Abby, JR Naughty Jet, and KG Jukebox Hero.

Each of these five incredible horses has won over $250,000 in their barrel racing career, and the majority are still actively competing.

Studying the numbers, perhaps the most intersting and impressive things is how equally spread the "wealth" is amongst Jet's offspring.

Benny is the only one to earn north of $1 million, and Blingolena is the only earner over $500,000. Jet is consistently producing six-figure winners to reach that $13 million number — a feat nearly unmatched by any other sire.

Jet is the No. 5 All-Time Leading Barrel Horse Sire and has several big winners hitting the aged event and rodeo trails in 2026.

Brittany Pozzi-Tonozzi and her stallion, Blazzin The Way, have been on fire throughout his futurity season. Andrea Busby purchased Jordon Briggs' futurity and derby winner, Awesome Arlo, and has found great success at professional rodeos.

Blingolena continues to win with Carlee Otero, and In The Nick A Time and Lindsey Muggli have won multiple professional rodeos this season.
