Please don't say we didn't warn you. Last month, Anthony Edwards and adidas launched a series of provocative ads for the Minnesota Timberwolves guard's first signature sneaker. Edwards took shots at several brands and players in his first social media promo, and it was nothing short of a declaration of war.

Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant is the latest casualty in Edwards' war on opposing players' sneakers. Durant said on social media, "Won't EVER see me put a big toe in them Mfers." Adidas quickly clapped back, "u dusty about to retire soon anyway."

Adidas then deleted the post and added, "meant to send that from the burner account..." Fans can say what they want about the competition in the NBA, but there is no denying that sneaker marketing is at an all-time high. Adidas and its fiery social media team have been out for blood this year.

This is not a normal exchange between brands and players. To quote the fictional character Paul Atreides from the movie Dune, "I see a holy war spreading across the universe like an unquenchable fire." Durant is a signature Nike athlete who recently signed a lifetime deal with the brand.

We are only a few months into the NBA season, and Edwards sneakers are not even out yet. The adidas AE 1 is scheduled to release in the 'With Love' colorway on December 16 for $120. Fans can expect more fireworks to come. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your sneaker news from the sports world.
