While college basketball fans all over the country are eager to get March Madness started in a few days, there is still much to celebrate in February - most notably, Black History Month.

One of the more exciting and creative ways of celebrating Black History Month in sports is through footwear. Jordan Brand did just that when it supplied the North Carolina Tar Heels with new sneakers in player-exclusive 'BHM' colorways.

UNC Tar Heels players debuted the new hoop shoes during last night's thrilling win over the Miami Hurricanes. Check out the Tar Heels' social media post below for a detailed look at the two unreleased sneakers they received on Monday.

Tar Heels players received the Jordan Tatum 2 and the Jordan Zion 3 in vibrant blue and black colorways. The hoop shoes are objectively amazing. But it is a little ironic that Jayson Tatum and Zion Williamson both played for UNC's arch-rivals, the Duke Blue Devils.

Unfortunately for fans, these colorways will not be released to the public. The silver lining is that online shoppers can choose from multiple styles of Tatum and Williamson's signature sneakers on the Nike website.

The Jordan Tatum 2 enjoys a global launch next week, while the Jordan Zion 3 has been out since September 2023. Both offer the best performance technology Jordan Brand has to offer for basketball players.

Of all the athletic departments in the NCAA, few, if any, have a stronger claim to the better footwear than the Tar Heels. Given that Michael Jordan is a proud alum and Jordan Brand has a contract with the school, it is going to be tough to find student-athletes with better sneakers.
